Roberta Kay “Bert” (Brown) Boyer Helfter, 69, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 11:39 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012, at home, surrounded by her family.
Bert was born in Peoria on May 2, 1943, the daughter of Robert Brown, Sr. and Evelyn (Carter) Brown. They preceded her in death, along with one brother, Michael Brown.
She is survived by her son, James (Kim) Boyer of Peoria Heights; daughter, Kathy Sikora of Rockford; twin brother, Robert Brown, Jr. of Peoria; brothers, Gary (Sheri) Brown of Peoria Heights and John (Alecia) Brown of Peoria Heights; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many wonderful friends, each of you know who you are.
She was a bartender at The Basket Case in Peoria and a member of Forrest Hill United Methodist Church.
Bert touched the lives of many and always lived life to the fullest. They say family is the blanket of life. She will forever be our blanket.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bert’s sister-in-law, Sheri Brown; dear friend, Sharon Braun; OSF Hospice Nurse, Rowena; and the entire hospice team for their nurturing care and endless support.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bert’s memory to OSF Hospice.
At Bert’s request, there will be no public visitation or services.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
